One Stop Systems – Leonardo DRS M-SHORAD Prime Opportunity Brief
Opportunity thesis
Leonardo DRS has demonstrated new SGT STOUT M-SHORAD capability against Group 1–2 small UAS threats. OSS’s rugged GPU/VPX compute could conceivably assist sensor ingest and classification when new payloads are integrated. A compute work package, supplier gap and subcontract are NOT confirmed.
Verified program signal
Leonardo DRS announced its U.S. government Group 1–2 C-UAS demonstration on August 11, 2026: https://www.leonardodrs.com/news/press-releases/leonardo-drs-demonstrates-defeat-of-group-1-2-unmanned-aerial-system-threats-for-fielded-sgt-stout-m-shorad/ . Its M-SHORAD page describes detection, tracking and mission integration and identifies current industry partners: https://www.leonardodrs.com/what-we-do/products-and-services/m-shorad/ . Existing systems and incumbent partners are meaningful barriers.
Precise OSS fit
OSS Torrey 2U OCP/VPX Hybrid Gen5 offers an instrumentable edge compute host with GPU acceleration, VPX expansion and high-throughput networking: https://onestopsystems.com/products/torrey-2u-ocp-vpx-hybrid-server . Engineering compatibility would require verifying vehicle thermal/power budget, EMC, mission-software architecture, real-time latency, physical space, cybersecurity and supplier certification. Generic GPU capabilities do not demonstrate M-SHORAD integration readiness.
Named people and contact route
Aaron Hankins is named as Leonardo DRS Land Systems senior vice president/general manager in the August announcement; he is a senior sponsor, not a confirmed compute buyer. Joe Rolwes is identified as a public Land Systems contact on the official M-SHORAD product page, +1 314 707 5764. Land Systems St. Louis office: +1 314 553 4000, https://www.leonardodrs.com/locations/land-systems-st-louis-mo/ . Ask who leads the SGT STOUT mission equipment sensor-compute integration.
Concrete approach
Reference the August Group 1–2 sensor/effector upgrade and ask whether increasing data and classification workloads require an additional rugged compute module, new VPX host or prototype testbed. Provide measured Torrey GPU/I/O/thermal specs and request a focused integration-engineering screen. If the stack is fully assigned to DRS/RADA/L3Harris/Moog/Northrop, do not pitch an invented replacement project; ask only about a confirmed follow-on laboratory need.
Suggested opener
Subject: SGT STOUT C-sUAS upgrade — sensor processing architecture question. OSS supplies rugged OCP/VPX hybrid compute for tactical edge sensor processing. We saw the recent SGT STOUT Group 1–2 demonstration. We aren’t assuming a supplier vacancy. Would you help route our Torrey interface/performance summary to the engineer responsible for mission-equipment sensor ingest, fusion and compute, to determine if any current or future integration need exists?
Risks, sources and confidence
The modernized M-SHORAD mission stack may already be completely designed, owned or supplier-assigned. There is no public evidence of an OSS purchasing opportunity. High confidence in the DRS demonstration and vendor technical publications; moderate in category-level fit; low/unknown in work-package availability, decision maker, requirements and contract value.
